Live Green Healthy And Clean

Your future depends on many things .....but mostly on you.

I am determined to encourage others to change the way we live by doing all we can to cleanse the environment. There are many ways to do this.

  • Use energy efficient bulbs
  • Use reusable bags for shopping
  • Buy Energy Star Appliances
  • Dry your clothes outside whenever possible
  • Recyle Cans Bottles plastic bags news papers any thing you can
  • Use products which eliminate plastic containers spray bottles all kept at a minimum.
  • Compost peels and scraps
  • Use water saving shower heads (it will save you a bundle)
  • Use super concentrated products which reduces plastic containers and Fuel costs for shipping which we pay for in the products, yes even at the grocery store.
  • By using non toxic products including personal care and cosmetics you will not only heal the environment but yours, and your families health as well. Many products contain formaldehyde including cosmetics. I remember when many toys were recalled including Thomas the train products in the news coverage they pointed out that bright red lipsticks contain lead. It is within the pure drug administrations allowable standards but let's face it on your lips you will be eatting it.
  • The reduction in the home of toxins will promote the health and well being of the whole family. Less headaches, less allergies, less asthma.  Other conditions with suspected toxin causes are Attention Defficit Syndrome, Sensory Integration Disorder, Autism, Exema, and Asthma.

The good news about taking a step back in time and conserving energy and forgoing the convienence of using plastic bags, plastic containers using rags and shamies for cleaning etc is that you will have immediate reduction in costs.

I have some hemp  reusablebags I use for shopping, which I love but you can buy resuable bags at the grocery store as well as other stores which do the job. It is nice not to have to get rid or plastic bags which pile up and get in the way. To get rid of this clutter take it back to the store and put it in the recycle container as you come into the store.

Any items which come in straight glass jars I use for storing food in the refrigerator. They take up less room and you can see what needs to be used because it is easily visible. They can be washed  and reused over and over. I also use them to store dry goods in the cupboards such as cereals that you cook, or lntils, dry beans, flour etc.

Emeril LaGase said start a new tradition for the holidays. Let your guest know that vegetable scraps will be composted and the carcase of the turkey will be used to make soup. When did that tradition die. What happened to the time when there was  always a pot of soup.  My husband says he loves my soup because it is never boring. Of course not it is never the same soup because it depends on the previous menu as to what left over vegetables are in the refrigerator. It only takes 20 minutes to put the soup together and possibly 1/2 hour to make the broth. In the mean time you could take a shower and take some time for yourself. If you work you can do it on the weekend or after work and have at least one meal of soup and a salad and several other meals as well.  When I was a single mom with 4 growing  children, the crock pot always had homade soup in it.  The kids loved it when they got home from school on a cold day . And when they were older and working or invoved with extra  activites after school they could have a decent meal and not live on chips and soda.

So let's get back to basics with some of the old ways incorporated into a new life style. Cut down or out of some of the conviences they've try to convience us we can't get along without. Use plastic bags if you must but wash and reuse them unless they had raw meat in them. I cut worn towels in two to use as cleaning cloths, work great. Purify your life, your home, your world. Consider it an adventure, a challenge but most certainly a journey. A journey we can take together for a better world.

We've said the same thing," things will get better in time". But think about it, how will it unless you change. Are you Ready to "Be the change" and work towards better things? Learn how I did it.
